As an army wife, Davina finds every day uncertain and up in the air. Things went worse for the TV host when her husband was deployed to Afghanistan for five months to train Afghanistan airforce soldiers to fire machine guns on Blackhawk helicopters.<\/p>\n
Davina made some serious adjusting in her life when she heard regular rocket sirens while speaking to Mark over the phone. Every day her heartbeat increased at an alarming rate as her husband had to wear a bulletproof vest and carry a gun by his side.<\/p>\n
She explained:<\/p>\n
\u2018Men Mark worked alongside were injured and killed on the base that was their home, where they were suppose to be safe.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The challenges were not only for the Australian presenter and her husband but also for their three-year-old daughter Rose, who missed her father not knowing where he was. Eagerly waiting for father\u2019s call, Rose wouldn\u2019t sit still even for a minute when her dad dialed in on FaceTime.<\/p>\n
Davina would never forget the moment of the family\u2019s airport reunion as their daughter hugged her dad with every ounce of love in her cute little body. She said:<\/p>\n
\u2018It was a hug she asked for every night for five months. It was a moment in a busy airport where she squeezed her eyes shut so tight, she shut the whole world out. Just a Daddy and his daughter. Her Cinderella moment.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

After graduation, Davina joined Nine\u2019s then-regional affiliate WIN News <\/em>where she worked as a presenter and reporter in Toowoomba, Rockhampton, and the Sunshine Coast.<\/p>\n
In 2011, Davina started working as a fill-in reporter at the Nine Network in Brisbane and also presented the weather on weekends.
