‘The Tinder Swindler,’ directed by Felicity Morris, tackles the truly disturbing story of Shimon Hayut, also known as Simon Leviev, who can only be defined as a scammer who nearly ruined several lives. After all, the Israeli conman allegedly used the dating app as his personal playground to select women to manipulate and cheat out of thousands of dollars for his own selfish purposes. Amongst his victims was Pernilla Sjoholm.

Pernilla Sjöholm initially met Simon Leviev on Tinder in March 2018, and she was immediately drawn to the fact that he was a hard worker and an avid traveller just like her. She had recently broken up with her fiancé of nearly eight years, but she was eager to re-enter the dating scene because she desired a mate who could complement her independence.

That’s what Simon appeared to promise in his profile, and it’s why she consented to go to Amsterdam, Netherlands, for their first date, only for them to decide they’d be better off as friends.
