Amber Sherlock marked 16 years of marital bliss with her long-time husband Chris earlier this year in March.
The Channel Nine newsreader, 44, still shares a strong bond with Chris and looks forward to seeing a smile on her husband’s face when she returns home from work.
Though Sherlock walked down the aisle at the age of 28 in 2004, her love story date back way earlier when she was just 19, and Chris was 20. The fact that the pair grew up together helped them develop their passion together.
The weather presenter said:
“It wasn’t like we had all these expectations of each other. We were just kids, we were having a good time. And you know, we grew up together and then turned that into something wonderful.”
The night Sherlock met her future husband, she was only looking for a free drink, which she never got. At the time, she found Chris a little cute but didn’t think she’d be spending the rest of her life with him.
But Sherlock began dating Chris right away and moved to the UK with him within a few years. The young couple was having fun during the first few years of dating each other. Later, they realized their relationship could get long-term when creating a life for themselves that they both sort of went.
A year into their stay, Chris popped the question to the reporter after surprising her with a limousine ride, special dinner, and a room at the famous Savoy Hotel. Eventually, the pair celebrated their nuptials in Thredbo in March 2004.
Former Nine News Now reporter recalls her engagement day, saying:
“It was just a perfect, perfect night.”
Sherlock and her husband Chris are now doting parents to two children: daughter Piper, ten, and son Zach, six.

The TV host had her water broke while she was live on-air reading the news on the Today show before giving birth to her first child. In 2017, she told Nine’s Supermum’s podcast:
‘I was reading the news on the Today show when my waters broke. It was six weeks before my due date. First child, no thought of maternity leave.’
She added:
‘My husband was away on a boys’ footy trip in Canberra … I was working away … my waters broke – and I thought: ‘what do I do?’’
Sherlock swiftly informed her husband that she was about to give birth to their first child and later delivered daughter Piper, six weeks before her due date. Her daughter spent the first four weeks of her life in a humidicrib.

The TV host said:
‘I was a first-time mother and it was quite a traumatic experience. I only have the highest of praise for the doctors and nurses and the medical equipment that ultimately saved my daughter’s life.’
The mother-of-two welcomed son Zach in April 2014. She and her husband are excited about the future of their children and love to see the two kids growing up.
