David Warner says he might reflect on retirement if the global pandemic and its adverse effect on sports continue over the years.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a raging fire, taking a toll in everyday’s life. Even players are in extreme stress in the midst of travel restrictions and quarantine measures while the international tournaments are slipping away from their hands. David Warner, a former captain of the Australian national team, said that he might think of withdrawing from cricket responsibilities to render possible family warmth in between the global pandemic crisis.

Tied knot to wife, Candice Falzon in 2015, Warner wishes to look after the family first, while the balance of cricket and COVID-19 crisis takes toll right under his eyes.

“Obviously three daughters and my wife, who I owe a lot to, has been a big part of my playing career, you’ve always got to look out for your family first, and with cricket and these unprecedented times, you’ve got to weigh up these decisions.

Look, at the moment, I’ll keep continuing to aim for that. Obviously the T20 [World Cup] is not here at home, which would have been ideal to play that and win that here. Now that gets pushed back. I will have to have a rethink about that when it comes to India.”

Further, he explained that he’d inspect when his career, as well as his daughter’s school, could reinforce the execution date. The retirement decision wouldn’t be solely depending on Warner; instead, it’s a big family consideration as per the future with COVID-19 measures.

“I’ll see where I am and where the girls are at with school as well. A lot of that is a big part of my decision. It’s not just when the games are being played and how much cricket’s being played.

It’s a big family decision for myself. There are times when you go away and miss your family a lot.

At the moment, with all these biosecurity measures that are in place, we’re going not to be able to have the luxury of our families coming away with us now, and it could be for the foreseeable future.

Warner is also uncertain if the players would be continuing their training sessions within the states because of travel restrictions. There are no other ways besides sitting idle and pray for the condition not to worsen.

“We’re obviously unsure and unclear given states are in lockdown or not letting people from other states go interstate. We have to sit back and wait for the government and states to see what the regulations are behind that. All we can do really is train with our states and prepare as well as we can on the wickets provided to get ready for the season”

“As the Prime Minister [Scott Morrison] said, we might not be able to go overseas or visitors won’t be able to come into Australia. They are things that we need to play by ear and if and when I do make that decision, it’ll be predominantly a family decision.”

He is anticipated to the Indian Premier League and then the Australian summer schedule if the crisis maintains its pace.

Let’s go back to David Warner’s miracle in past IPL.

Against Kolkata Knight Riders

The three-time Orange cap winner scored an unbeatable top score of 107 over Kolkata Knight Riders. Well, the Delhi Daredevils outpointed KKR by 177/4, and the due credit went to Warner, who struck nine fours and five sixes in a 69-ball knock in 2010. After seven years, he maintained the same pose against KKR as he documented 126 runs from 59 deliveries for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Unbeatable scores against RCB in 2019

Last year, Warner marked his fourth IPL century with 100* runs off 55 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Like a one-man army, he smashed five fours and five sixes to anchor the innings and escorted Sunrisers Hyderabad to the victory of 231/2. He won one of the orange caps in the 2019 edition of IPL as he recorded 692 runs in 12 matches.
