Dwayne played college football for Ohio State University and had won the Sammy Baugh Trophy and was the 2019 Rose Bowl MVP as a sophomore. Likewise, he was selected by the Washington Redskins in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. However, he was released by the team in the second season because of inconsistent play.
In 2021, Dwayne had signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was named the third-string quarterback. In March 2022, Dwayne was placed on an original-round restricted free agent tender and he signed the one-year contract in the same month.
