Kyan Pennell, 12, was a classical music enthusiast and an aspiring young composer. After his tragic death, members of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra have been inspired to record Kyan’s composition for his funeral.

How Did Kyan Pennell Die? Cause of His Sudden Death

The 12-year-old Kyan Pennell was crushed to death while helping his father, Ian Pennell, on their property in Mary Valley, 169 kilometres north of Brisbane, at midday on Monday.

The Pennell family relocated to the Gympie region two years ago, hoping to live a quiet, country life.

Kyan, who was born in April 2009, stepped out of his father’s car and went to the steep property entry on Chinaman’s Creek Road to open the gate.

As Mr Pennell drove through the gate it partially closed, sadly Kyan became wedged between the car’s trailer and the fence. According to police, Mr Pennell heard a ‘boom’ and a ‘yell,’ which prompted him, Kyan’s younger sister, his mother, and a neighbour to rush to help.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, Kyan passed away because of his terrible injuries.

Kyan Pennell’s Father Shared a Heartbreaking Tribute To His Deceased Son

On Tuesday, Feb. 8, Kyan Pennell’s father, Ian, shared a heartbreaking tribute to his lost son via Facebook. On the post, Mr Penell wrote:

“As many may already know Amanda, Lauryn and I lost our beautiful, creative, quirky, smart, talented, funny, animal-loving son/brother Kyan yesterday in a freak accident. Just wanted to thank everyone for their heartfelt messages of love and support.”

Kyan’s father continued:

“Also special thanks to the amazing flight doctors, paramedics, police personal and our neighbours who fought for over an hour in an attempt to save him. His injuries were simply too great. I know many will have questions and in time I will answer any personal messages. We will notify funeral arrangements when we have it organised.’

Several friends and family members left messages of support for the family in the comment section of the post.

One Person wrote:

‘My heart breaks for you all. Such an amazing soul Kyan was. And u both such amazing parents. Prayers go out to u (sic) all.’

Kerri Groves, Kyan’s grade five teacher at Gympie Central School in 2020, also wrote a heartfelt message. She said:

‘It is a beautiful family. They are just lovely people and devoted parents. They moved from Sydney to the country for Kyan. He was such a sweetie.”

Queensland Symphony Orchestra will Record Kyan’s First Composition For His Funeral

Dozens of Queensland’s most prominent classical musicians are collaborating to record Kyan Pennell’s first and last composition for his funeral on Sunday.

Kyan taught himself to play classical music, and he had already learned over 30 pieces, including Beethoven’s Fur Elise and Chopin’s Fantaisie Impromptu, primarily through YouTube tutorials.

A week before Kyan’s death, his mother had shared a video of him playing the piano and a photo of his half-completed piece on social media.

Kyan’s mother, who discovered his composition only after her son’s tragic death, told ABC Radio Brisbane:

“The thing that has given us some little part of Kyan to hold onto is when I found this composition he was working on in the middle of a blank exercise book. I didn’t realise that he knew how to write music.”

Musicians and performers from all over the world have recorded their versions of Kyan’s song.

On Friday, about 16 QSO musicians will gather to record the piece, with audio and video volunteers hoping to get it finished and ready for Kyan’s funeral on Sunday.

QSO associate principal cellist Hyung Suk Bae stated that he and the QSO cello arranger had been working on Kyan’s unfinished piece as meticulously as possible. He said:

“We really want to bring Kyan’s personality into it, so we’re not going to change too much but maybe add some melodies here and there from watching his video, seeing his personality. We can only guess, because we’ve never met Kyan … how he would have been if he were to play this music.”

Following Kyan’s death, a family friend created a GoFundMe page to “assist the Pennell family out during this tough time.”

To date, $25,980 has been raised to help support funeral and mourning expenses, far exceeding the $10,000 goal.

Mr Pennell shared on Facebook that Kyan’s funeral will be held at Whitelady Tewantin at 11 am Sunday, Feb 13. On the post, he requested people to allow close family and friends priority to attend the funeral due to Covid restrictions.

Kyan was born to parents – Ian Pennell and Amanda Brierley. He was the only son of his parents. Unfortunately, Kyan’s parents and family members never got to hear his composition.

Besides his parents, Kyan is also survived by his younger sister, Lauryn. His mother, Amanda, describes her son as being “full of life, with a beautiful mind”.

“The man was identified as Robert Saget & pronounced deceased on scene.

In the statement, the sheriff’s office confirmed that no cause of death had been determined. According to them, there was no evidence of foul play or drug use.

The comedian and actor had been touring the country, stopping at multiple locations in Florida. He performed a show in Jacksonville on Saturday, January 8, 2022.

At around 3 am on Sunday morning, Saget had tweeted:

Who was Bob Saget?

Bob Saget, born on May 17, 1956, was a stand-up comedian, actor, director, and television host. He graduated from Abington Senior High School in 1975 and later went on to attend Temple University’s film school.

After a brief appearance on CBS’ The Morning Program in 1987, Saget landed his most memorable role as Danny Tanner in TV sitcom Full House. From 1989 to 1997, he served as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos. 

Saget directed multiple films throughout the 1990s, including For Hope and Dirty Work. He narrated the sitcom How I Met Your Mother as the voice of future Ted Mosby.

Saget reprised his role as Danny Tanner in the Full House sequel series, Fuller House from 2016 until 2020. In 2019, he made his return to hosting, with ABC’s Videos After Dark and CMT game show, Nashville Squares.

Mr Caserta was a talented jockey who relocated to the Gold Coast late last year after the Covid-19 lockdowns in Victoria impacted riding opportunities. This year, he had recorded five wins and 16 minor placings from 115 starts. Throughout his career, he had 154 wins from 2,181 race rides.

Went Missing on December 1

Mr Caserta, 26, went missing around 10 p.m. on Wednesday (December 1) after going swimming with a 25-year-old lady – apparently apprentice jockey Amy Graham – at Surfers Paradise on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Onlookers witnessed the couple struggling in the water and were able to assist the woman to safety. She had apparently swallowed seawater and was in a distressed situation.

The following day, after intensive search efforts extending from South Stradbroke Island to Burleigh Heads, failed to discover the jockey, Sergeant Jay Notaro, Gold Coast Water Police and Search Commander Senior, declared the time frame for his survival had gone.

His Body was Found on Friday Morning

Volunteer surf lifesavers recovered the body of Mr Caserta on Friday morning at about 8:30 am.

At about 6 a.m. this morning, volunteers and emergency services started their broad air, land, and sea search for Mr Caserta. The search had been futile for more than 34 hours until about 8.30 a.m. when the search team discovered a body about 200 metres offshore from Main Beach.

Mr Caserta’s body had been formally identified, according to the Queensland Police Service. A spokesperson said:

“Surf Life Saving Queensland lifesavers on wave runners found the body in the surf break, just south of the sand pumping jetty.”

Police will prepare a report for the 26-year-old jockey.

He is now Survived by His Family

Queensland Police have expressed their condolences to Mr Caserta’s friends and family, as well as the wider racing community, who are greatly saddened and touched by his death.

Mr Caserta’s parents – Lucia and Robert – were travelling from Victoria to the Gold Coast to join the search party, and Senior Sergeant Jay Notaro said he was devastated to have to break the news to them.

Mr Caserta, who previously lived in Victoria, is now survived by his two parents and siblings, including twin brother Matteo, who paid a touching tribute to him on social media. He wrote:

“My twin brother, my best friend, my role model. All rolled into one powerful punch of a man, you are forever with me, I will always be a part of you and you will always be a part of me. Keep punching home those winners you champion, you’re always and forever a winner in my eyes. I’ll always and forever love you endlessly.”

According to Geoscience Australia, the 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Mansfield, 180 km northeast of Melbourne, at 9:15 am today, 22nd September 2021.

5.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Victoria!

Initially, the earthquake was recorded at 6.0 magnitude but was later revised down to 5.9 magnitude to eventually 5.8 magnitude. The tremors lasted for around 30 seconds. Eighteen minutes later, the first 4.0 magnitude aftershock was recorded. Another 3.1 magnitude quake was recorded at 10:15 am.

Deputy Premier James Merlino claimed that the state was on alert. VicEmergency urged Victorians to remain on alert.

The state emergencies are on alert, as the affected area is at potential risk of further earthquakes and aftershocks that can occur for weeks and months, according to Geoscience.

Though Mr. Merlino did not feel the earthquake, his wife and kids felt the tremors. He said:

Please take care, Keep observing the EMV Alerts and warnings that have been issued, and there will be more to say later in the day.

As per survey and agency, more than 26 thousand felt the earthquake.

At this stage, there are no any reports of injury but damaged buildings in the epicenter of Mansfield. Deputy Premier Merlino claimed that around 46 minor building damage complaints have been received across the state, including Melbourne suburbs of Kensington, Parkdale, Balwyn, Ascot Vale, Prahran, Northcote, West Melbourne, and Elsternwick.

Beechworth Hospital lost power in the morning, but the problem has been solved with backup generators. Around 35 thousand residents lost power, but most of the power problems in the state have been resolved.

Incident control centers have been established in Manfield, Dandenong, and Benalla in response to the natural calamity.

Speaking from Washington DC, Prime Minister Scott Morrison reported of having no serious injuries at the stage. He said:

That is very good news, and we hope that good news will continue.

Mr. Morrison admitted of being in contact with the Federal Government and Premier Daniel Andrews. He also promised to provide every kind of assistance, including ADF support, in case of a requirement.

Mr. Morrison also asked Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce and Emergency Management Minister Bridget McKenzie to inform him about developments.

A local Patrick around Chapel Street said that he thought the rattling of the building was because of the tunnel works happening near him.

Many buildings have been evacuated in the morning as a precaution, including Channel 9 headquarters in Docklands.

According to Geoscience Australia, the 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck in the Alpine National Park south-east of Mansfield, 190 kilometers north-east of Melbourne, at 9:15 a.m. today. The earthquake was initially recorded at a magnitude of 6.0 but was later downgraded to a magnitude of 5.0, with tremors lasting roughly 30 seconds.

Eighteen minutes after the first tremor, a 4.0 aftershock was recorded. Another 3.1 magnitude quake hit at 10.15 am.

According to Deputy Premier James Merlino, the state is on high alert as there is a chance of more earthquakes and aftershocks, which might last weeks or months. He said:

“Buildings have been damaged in the Mansfield township, no reports of injury at this stage.”

Mr Merlino said 46 minor building damage complaints had been received across the state, including in the Melbourne suburbs of Kensington, Parkdale, Ascot Vale, Balwyn, Prahran, Northcote, West Melbourne, and Elsternwick.

Mr Morrison said Emergency Management Australia was in contact with state authorities. He has asked Emergency Management Minister Bridget McKenzie and Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce to inform him of developments. He said:

“Regardless of whether it’s a flood, bushfire, earthquake or cyclone, we have some of the best disaster response agencies anywhere in the world, if not the best.”

Federal MP Michael McCormack reported feeling the quake in the New South Wales town of Temora, 370km north of the epicentre in Mansfield and 85km north of Wagga Wagga.

The video uploaded on TikTok from the AdventCare Whitehorse is highly criticized. People are not happy about hosting a party despite pandemic COVID-19 restrictions.

The staff hosted the party on 16^th September 2020, Wednesday to create a special High Tea event.

In the video, the staffs danced shoulder to shoulder in a musical performance in front of the residents. The attendants of the party have not worn masks and PPE and seem not to follow any COVID-19 precautions. The party bash’s aim is to celebrate a staff member’s milestone.

However, in response, the CEO of AdventCare, David Reece, claimed that the dancers put on masks as soon as they finished dancing during the special High Tea event.

According to the statement:

This was a source of great enjoyment for the residents and helped to lift their spirits at this time.

Explaining about the event, the bash took in the afternoon, where staffs entertained the residents seated at their tables. Furthermore, the statement claimed that the organization uses PPE all the time, and teams wore masks during the event.

The CEO claimed that only a few staff members and residents attended the party.

However, Premier of Victoria, Daniel Andrews, explained that the argument did not stack up. Speaking up about the incident, Andrews claimed that the staff do not live there, and the cases have racked up via community transmission.

He added:

An aged care home is and will remain, for the foreseeable future, a high-risk environment.
