Nothing is certain for Broncos’s player, Tevita Pangai Jr. since he has been stood down indefinitely for numerous breaches of the league’s COVID-19 regulations. But, exiled Broncos star, Tevita Pangai Jr. isn’t a forgettable rugby league footballer in the NRL.
Howbeit, the club authorities have decided that Tevita would stay on probation for the next year, while his contract will be untouched. Last year, he re-signed Brisbane Broncos until the end of 2022 and sealed a long-term commitment, missing out on bankable contracts from other clubs. That day, he was proud to label himself ‘a Brisbane Bronco.’ Tevita vowed to earn another contract from Broncos too.
“I’m a Brisbane Bronco, obviously I want to stay – I’m going to be working hard to get another contract…”
Did He Sign a Million Worth Contract?
A year ago, the contract drew a debate about whether he should be on the line of $1 million per season like Jason Taumalolo in North Queensland. Gorden Tallis, a former rugby footballer, didn’t regard Tavita as a player worth $1 million per season.
‘Raging Bull,’ aka Tallis was confident of Tevita’s potential, yet he argued that contract worth mustn’t be dependent on players’ tenacity. He has witnessed a marquee player getting hurt when one of the games didn’t save numbers on the scoring board. Hence, Tallis didn’t long Tavita to fall into the same category.
A Contract Worth With Brisbane Broncos till 2022
At the end of the day, Tevita went for Broncos again; Tevita didn’t hesitate to sign the contract worth around $600,000 a season. Well, he didn’t plan to leave the club either.
It’s good to have my future sorted — I wasn’t planning on leaving, I love the club, and they’ve welcomed me with open arms and it’s good to call this place home for the next three years,”
“The weather is great, the fans, playing at the best stadium every week — it’s an honor and a blessing to pull on that Broncos jersey. I’m just thankful for the club for having faith in me and backing me.
“I want to work on my preparation, this is my third year in the NRL so I want to get my stuff right off the field and get that balance right and then have no excuses when I come out to play on the weekend.”
Similarly, he is strongly attached to his coach, ‘Seibs,’ whom he has worshipped since former days. Pangai Jnr is honored to enjoy the practices in the best stadium with talented mates under the mentorship of his favorite coach, ‘Seibs.’
“I’m a big fan of ‘Seibs’ and how he coaches, it’s a big reason why I’m staying. We have no excuses now, we have the best facility, we play at the best stadium, we are a proud brand and it’s an honor to be here.”
Luckily, he isn’t at risk of having the Broncos contract detached from him following the breach of the league’s COVID-19 regulations. He left the team’s bio-security room and went for his friend’s barbershop opening. Thus, he was rumored to be axed from the team; nonetheless, the club authorities bounded him in probation until next year.
Assaulted His Girlfriend in 2018
Back in 2018, he was alleged of ‘slapping and manhandling’ his girlfriend, Kiki Heineback. In turn, the cops investigated whether Tavita assaulted Brandon based personal trainer and gym instructor Heineback.
The NRL is known for taking a stand against domestic altercation; hence its integrity unit assured to inspect the case. On the other hand, Kiki Heineback didn’t intend to comment on the alleged incident. It’s dubious if the duo has come into agreeing with the terms and still maintaining a healthy relationship.
