Newsreader Tracy Vo Shocked fans Earlier this year in March After she Quit the Today Show
The 37-year-old Vietnamese-Australian journalist announced her departure from the show just four months after joining the breakfast program. She relocated from Sydney to Perth to be closer to her family amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, the news presenter has rejoined Nine News Perth, where she formerly worked for eight years, before her 12-week stint on the Today show. She made a welcome return reporting about some female inmates from Boronia Pre-release Centre for Women, a correctional facility located in Bentley, WA.

Tracy made the tough decision to quit the Today show and move closer to her elderly parents in Perth just before Western Australia’s borders were shut. She told 9Now:
‘It was a hard decision, but I thought it was the right decision at the time.’
Tracy was worried about her 64-year-old father, Tai, who suffers from a rare autoimmune disease Morvan Syndrome. She affectionately calls her father’ Pa Vo’.
The newsreader told 9Now:
‘Despite the fact he’s quite young, dad falls into the vulnerable category. He has had some aches and pains last week, but doctors are keeping a good eye on him.’
‘We’re not trying to be alarmist – but the GP has written a letter saying he needs extra precautions.
She continued:
‘He needs infusions every month, to keep up his white blood cells and we’re having to isolate both mum and dad in case they get [COVID-19].’
Residing in the same city as her family, Tracy wanted to care for her ageing parents until the global health crisis is over. She explained the most important thing for her was to be with her family.
While Tracy is close to her parents, she admitted she already missed Today’s team, saying:
‘I really miss the Today show guys and it was just a family decision, purely a family decision. Everyone has been so supportive, and I just can’t wait to be reunited with everybody again when we’re all allowed to.”
