Where was Ajaz Patel Born? His Age & Family
Ajaz Patel, whose full name is Ajaz Yunus Patel, was born on October 21, 1988, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He is the only son born to his parents – Yunus, a shop owner, and Shahnaz Patel, a teacher. He has two younger sisters – Sanaa and Tanzeel.
In 1996, when Patel was eight years old, his family moved to New Zealand in search of better career opportunities. At the time, they already had extended family in New Zealand.
International Career Debut
Patel, who started his career as a fast bowler, made his international debut for the New Zealand cricket team in October 2018. He made his Test debut for the Black Caps against Pakistan the following month, where he took five wickets in the second innings and was named the man of the match.
In May 2020, New Zealand Cricket awarded him with a central contract, ahead of the 2020–21 season. The spinner was named in New Zealand’s ODI squad for their tour of Pakistan in August 2021.

History-Making Bowling
On December 4, in the second test against India at the Wankhede Stadium, New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel became only the third bowler in international cricket history to take all ten wickets in an innings.
The 5′ 8″ tall Patel joined England off-spinner Jim Laker (1956 against Australia) and India leg-spinner Anil Kumble (1999 against Pakistan) as the only bowlers in history to take all wickets in an innings.
Patel, who had taken four of India’s wickets on Day 1, took six more wickets on Day 2 to become the first New Zealand bowler to take a 10-wicket haul in an innings. He finished with the eye-popping figures of 10-119.

A Happily Married Man
The New Zealand spinner is happily married to his wife, Nilofer Patel. The couple shares a child together.
In January 2022, the lovebirds will be celebrating their seventh marriage anniversary.
