From N.F.L. Cheerleader to an Actor

Anjelah moved to LA in 2005 and pursued a career in comedy, and took improv classes. She quickly made headlines for her own shows and stand-up routine, comprising her impression of a Vietnamese nail salon employee earned her a huge YouTube attention.

In 2007, Anjelah joined the cast of MADtv, where she mostly played her self-scripted character Bon Qui Qui. The following year, she was nominated for an ALMA Award for Outstanding Female Performance in a Comedy Television Series for her work on MADtv. Her fame earned her roles in movies like Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and Our Family Wedding. She also became the “T.C. Girl”, a spokesperson for Mexican Restaurant Taco Cabana. In 2012, she became the national campaign spokesperson for the “Don’t be an S.O.V.” campaign led by vRide.

In 2013, the actress reprised her role for a skit and released her second stand-up comedy special, “Homecoming Show“, on Netflix. Her third stand-up special, “Anjelah Johnson: Not Fancy”, was released in October 2015.
