“We take this time to celebrate Tommy Heinsohn’s life and legacy, and to share in the sorrow of his passing with his family, friends, and fans. As long as there are the Boston Celtics, Tommy’s spirit will remain alive.”
Tommy passed away on November 10, 2020, and was 86 years old at the time of his death. While the team did not share Tommy’s cause of death, his spokesperson, Jeff Twiss, shared that the former basketball player had been suffering from various illnesses like diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
