Trevor Strnad, famous for being the vocalist and frontman of the popular melodic death metal band ‘The Black Dahlia Murder’, has passed away at the age of 41. But how did Strnad die? 

Trevor Strnad Cause of Death: Did He Commit Suicide?

Strnad’s bandmates announced the news of his death Wednesday, May 11, on social media.

Though the band members didn’t disclose the cause of death, they provided the contact information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, suggesting that Strnad took his own life.

The statement on the band’s official social media account reads:

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor Scott Strnad. Beloved son, brother, and Shepard of good times, he was loved by all that met him. A walking encyclopedia of all things music. He was a hugger, a writer, and truly one of the world’s greatest entertainers. His lyrics provided the world with stories and spells and horror and whimsy. It was his life to be your show.”

At the end of the statement, the surviving members included the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 800-273-8255.

The Michigan-based metal band was formed in 2000. Following a series of independent EPs, the band signed with their longtime label Metal Blade Records, which released all nine of the Black Dahlia Murder’s studio albums, including 2020’s Verminous.

Trevor Strnad’s death was also confirmed by Metal Blade Records on Wednesday.

The death metal band had plans to tour later this year at the time of Strnad’s death, including a May 20 show as part of Daytona Beach, Florida’s Welcome to Rockville Festival.

Strnad’s family members have yet to release a statement about the official cause of his death and his funeral details. We’ll soon update you on Strnad’s funeral details.

Tributes Pour In For Trevor Strnad

After the news of Strnad’s death circulated online, many musicians in the rock industry paid tribute to the singer, including bandmate Brandon Ellis.

The guitarist shared a photo of him along with his bandmates in the group. In the caption, the rocker said he couldn’t process Strnad’s death, and he’s still in total shock and disbelief.

Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn took to Twitter and wrote:

“So sad to hear about the passing of Trevor from The Black Dahlia Murder. Absolutely horrible. He was such a sweet guy. Had him on my podcast about 10 months ago, he was very open about struggling with depression. It’s a sad day for the Metal community.”

Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta wrote in response to Strnad’s death:

“RIP Trevor Strnad, you’ll be missed dearly, my deepest condolences to TBDM, his family, friends and fans. Thanks for all the laughs, the stories, the music and so much more.”

Trevor Strnad Relationship: Was He Married?

The frontman of The Black Dahlia Murder was never married. However, he had a girlfriend named Violet Knox.

On May 8, Strnad had posted a picture of him and his girlfriend along with a black heart emoji in his caption on Instagram.

Both Strnad and Knox have mentioned the Instagram handle of the other in their bio. The late vocalist even placed a heart beside his lady’s name.
