History® Channel is back with its hit survival show Alone. This time Alone takes you to Labrador, Canada where polar bears hunt and the weather conditions are miserable. Season 9 of Alone premiered on May 26 with 10 new contestants who’re competing to win $500,000 as they try their best to survive in one of Earth’s harshest locations. One of those contestants is Adam Riley, a treehouse builder and alpaca shearer.
Adam Riley Bio – Early Life, Age & Birthday
Adam Riley was born in the year 1985/86 in the United Kingdom. He is American by nationality and has a British heritage.
After immigrating to the United States, Adam had his first taste of swamps and wildlife. He spent his childhood in the woods catching snakes and building forts. After graduating from high school, he went to Madagascar and spent four months exploring the island’s jungles and mountains.
Upon returning to the US, Adam moved to the desert southwest and worked as an instructor at a wilderness therapy program where honed his backcountry and survival skills. He then spent the next fifteen years exploring the remote wilderness on every continent.
Adam completed his Bachelors in African Studies from SOAS University of London in the U.K., while taking an apprenticeship with a professional shearer.

Adam Riley Life Before Alone – His Profession
Adam Riley initially worked as a professional alligator wrestler. After leaving his shearing job, he set off to travel overland from London to Singapore in 2008.
Following that, Adam continued his adventure in northern Mongolia, Australia, the Caribbean sea, and the Peruvian mountains. During this time, he learned traditional skills, hunting, sailing, and shearing alpacas. For a brief time, he went back to his family farm in Arkansas. But after failing to settle down into a normal life, he took off for his most daring adventure yet, a single-handed crossing of the pacific ocean.
In the summer of 2018, Adam transited the Panama canal and set off for an 8000-mile solo journey. He spent over 80 days alone at sea and dropped his anchor five months later in New Zealand after passing through the crucible of sleep deprivation, isolation, equipment failures, and storms. After the COVID, he was forced to sell his sailboat.
Adam currently enjoys fishing and hunting in the beautiful Arkansas Ozarks, where he works as a carpenter building custom treehouses at Natural State Treehouses. He has been shearing alpacas since 2008 with Mr Clipper Shearing Co. In his free time, he is building a new cabin on his six-acre property and enjoys floating the Arkansas rivers and biking its many trails.
