A former footy player, Moana Hope was in a dilemma to choose between the women’s AFL ground and a cricket pitch at the age of nineteen. Looks after her sister, Lavinia

She is in her early thirties, i.e. 32 years old, born on 14 February 1988.  Hope is a native of Broadmeadows, in Melbourne’s north. Five feet eight inches tall, Moana Hope grew up with fourteen siblings. She shares a close bond with her mother, Rosemary, who influenced her to go with football alongside four footy playing brothers. From her mother’s side, she carries mixed ethnicity of New Zealand, German and Australian ancestry. Hope continued her sportsmanship through Rosemary’s health deteriorated with a brain tumour, heart disease, and lung cancer.

When she turned thirteen, her father passed away due to cancer. Hope grew up to be an indestructible lady who always takes coffee to her ill mother and younger sister, Lavinia/Vinny. 26 –years-old Lavinia has a rare neurological disorder, Möbius syndrome. It paralyzes the entire face and doesn’t enable one to move eye side to side properly.

Hope used to have different jobs before the AFL Women’s career-such in the construction management field and traffic utilities. She balanced job duties, sports commitment, and at the end of the day, she escorted Lavinia from the school. These days, Laviana is glad to hold Hope and Carlstrom’s little princess, Svea. Vinny asked if she could call Svea her sister and it made Hope the happiest woman on the earth.

Loved football the most

During the early days, she had blessings of athletic form that every sport was in favour of her. At the end of the day, she handpicked football, which she had played with boys at Glenroy football club since the age of seven. Hope attempted everything she could- rigorous training and nutritional diet and kept herself physically and psychologically fit. After playing with guys, Hope represented Victoria and captained the state at the under-19 level at the age of sixteen. Eventually, in 2013, she stood out among the rest in two league clubs, Melbourne and the Western Bulldog.

In 2016, Collingwood didn’t step back to collect the signature of Hope following her score of 100 goals in the VFL’s women.  As a result, she emerged as a leading goalkicker of the club. Thus, Collingwood again extended a contract for a year. Then in May 2018, North Melbourne set eagle-eyesight towards Hope whose one goal defined victory against Allies in February.

Unluckily, she couldn’t make up to the AFLW competition in 2019, and the same year, she withdrew from the footy world. Hope has made a net worth of between $1 million and $5 million; above all, she is a leading goalkicker in the club including the Victorian Women’s Football League. Wedding bliss in Toorak, Melbourne

In October 2019, Hope and her wife, Isabella Carlstrom exchanged their wedding vows at a family friend’s mansion in Toorak, Melbourne. Hope walked down the aisle with her mother and took their wedding oath in front of family and acquaintances. Hope’s wife, Isabella Carlstrom who is a model by profession, shared glimpses of their wedding shots on Instagram with the heart-warming caption:

Before a year of the marriage, Carlstrom proposed to her beloved partner at the grave of Hope’s dad. Well, the former AFL player had already told her to ask her father if Carlstrom ever wished to tie the knot with her. And she did. Now, the couple is the parents of their daughter, Svea.
